Packageless Package Manager

Every once in a while I'd read about this Haiku operating system. How great its supposed to be.

Supposedly you can run 10 applications at the same time.

I looked for a download and found a web page that left me confused. Should I use X86 GCC? Hybrid? gcc 4? iso? vdmk?

How complicated does a download have to be?

Apparently they even host pirated non genuine versions without the Haiku logo at their site.

I picked two of them and I saw no difference between the pirated version and Haiku except that the fake version had better graphics.

So I ran the installer and I figured out why the OS is supposedly so fast.

Its only about 500 MB of code.

Once installed I saw an assortment of crapware in the hidden menu bar.

Webpositive is pure crap. You can't print or save web pages. Most page views aee missing search boxes and content that modern web browsers can handle.

Cody cam couldn't use my camera.

I gave up and looked for better applications and found Haiku Depot.

What a cheeseball selection of apps. Another crap web browser of which I forgot the name of never heard of before.

Printing is shit. But I'll leave that for next week.
